… In The sick rose si assiste al progressivo disfacimento fisico e morale di una donna che, abituata a percepire il suo stesso corpo come fosse un perfetto congegno elettronico da programmare e modificare a suo piacimento, si ammala della paura di ammalarsi.
La barriera che interpone tra se stessa e il mondo esterno si sgretola di fronte all’evidenza
della caducità e della finitezza della propria esistenza e tutte le pratiche di disinfezione che quotidianamente infligge al suo corpo le si ripercuotono contro, scatenando una serie di conseguenze inaspettate.
La donna sopravvive, costruendosi un’identità fittizia attraverso cui nega la propria corporeità (il suo essere capace di produrre una vasta quantità di fluidi corporali, i suoi limiti fisici, l’essere sottoposta a leggi ‘naturali’) e anestetizza i propri sensi .
La donna sopravvive, ma non a lungo: nella rosa alberga un verme che contamina il suo profumo, che distrugge la sua bellezza, che spezza le sue radici.

… In The Sick Rose we participate in the progressive physical and moral decadence of a woman that, used to perceive her body as a perfect electronic device to control and to programme, gets sick because of the fear to get sick.
The barrier that she places between herself and the external world crumbles, faced with the evidence of the transience of her existence and all the disinfection practises that she daily inflicts to her body have effects against her, causing several unexpected consequences.
The woman survives, building a fake identity through which she denies her corporeality (her capability to produce corporeal fluids, her physical limits, her being subjected to ‘natural laws’) and anesthetizes her senses.
The woman survives, but not for a long time: into the rose lives a worm that contaminates her perfume, destroys her beauty, breaks her roots.
